People waiting for travelers in the cell phone waiting lot at Tampa International Airport will have something else to keep them occupied and their stomachs full.

Over the next 30 days, food trucks will be available at the lot Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to a written statement from TIA.

The move by the airport follows a rule change that restricts guests from waiting to pick up passengers at the terminal. The new curbside management program begins Thursday.

The cell phone waiting lot also offers free Wi-Fi, vending machines, restrooms and flight information screens.

“We are always trying to come up with new ways to improve the customer experience at Tampa International Airport,” said John Tiliacos in the statement.

The airport is implementing a new curbside traffic management program to try to limit cars sitting in the arrival curb at the airport. The airport is encouraging people to either use the short-term parking lot, which is free for up to an hour, or the cell phone waiting lot.
