VALDOSTA — Last winter, Summer and Scott Clark were thinking of opening a second location for The Mix, their Valdosta frozen yogurt store located on Jerry Jones Drive.

Customers had requested a second store on the northside of Valdosta, but the Clarks weren’t quite sold on the idea.

“We saw another store as a lot of risk,” said Summer. “Would we be competing with ourselves?”

They also had requests for catering and they decided to combine the two into a frozen yogurt truck.

They found a handful across the United States and found a man in Austin, Texas, who had one for sale, one he had been building before deciding to go with a coffee truck instead.

“We looked at it and for about what it would cost to open a new location, we got the truck,” said Summer.

“And it can go anywhere we want,” said Scott.

After flying to Austin with his father and driving it back, Scott got The Mix truck underway.

At first, he thought it would be something he did on the side, but running the truck quickly became a full-time job.
