The competition was fierce, but six Washington D.C. trucks made the cut for our recent 101 Best Food Trucks for 2013 list. Some remained on this year’s list after having appeared in our 2012 ranking, while others just made their first appearance. Either way, these are the best of the nation’s capital according to our evaluation.
Our rankings are based on a specific methodology; we consider followings on Twitter and Facebook, critical review, and originality of a given truck. We then assign and crunch numbers for each criteria with a mathematical formula. The trucks are then ranked based on our results.
To be clear, carts, or any food vendor that doesn’t actually serve out of a truck, did not make the cut. Nothing against these folks, but we have to draw the line somewhere!
Our Washington D.C. selections range from trucks that serve everything from imaginative burritos (fresh fruit with granola, cinnamon, and condensed milk aren’t your typical fillings) to a menu informed by José Andrés. Some are strictly trucks, while others have brick-and-mortar locations as well. Although this list is not all that the city’s truck scene has to offer, we assure you that it’s the cream of the crop.
