Everyone loves food trucks and everyone loves dessert, so D.C. residents are in for a treat.

The nation’s capital ranks third among the “U.S. Cities with Best Dessert Trucks,” a list compiled by members of the travel dating website MissTravel.com. Austin, Texas and Portland, Oregon are ranked ahead of Washington.

More than 10,000 “foodies” were polled and named their top cities for sweet treats on wheels, rated cities on a variety of contributing factors — such as “variety of dessert offered,” “plethora of food trucks available,” and “convenience” — and ranked what treats they enjoyed indulging in most during their mobile dining experience.

“That Cheesecake Truck” and “Sweetbites” are among D.C.’s most popular food truck hotspots, according to the survey.

“Food trucks are widely becoming a way for chefs to express themselves in an innovative way,” says Brandon Wade, founder and CEO of MissTravel.com. “Mobile dining offers a completely unique dining experience that a tourist or local can remember for a lifetime.”

MissTravel.com members were also asked what type of food truck culinary creation they most looked forward to and, not surprisingly, ice cream came in with the highest percentage at 43 percent.
