

One day Dror Levi, 44, of Wilkes-Barre took a chance with some brisket while working at his business, Around the Table Catering.
“We received some, and I thought, ‘Let me see what I can do with this,’ ” he said. His experimental Texas barbecue brisket is now the hottest item on his Around the Table food truck menu.

“I had a man that is from Texas come here for the Texas barbecue brisket, and he told me it’s one of the best he ever had, so I must be doing something right.”
In addition to the brisket, Around the Table Catering serves 6-ounce burgers that are anything but typical.
Three specialized burger creations are Magnificent Mushroom, made with porcini mushrooms; Black Tie Special, fitted with cognac and chive; and New Wave Special, packed with chipotle peppers.
“We like to keep it fresh and interesting,” he said. “And big. Everybody loves big food.”
Levi also is trying his hand at breakfast, with a $1.99 special of an egg and cheese sandwich on a roll and a cup of coffee.
He also makes homemade empanadas and rice pudding.
The food truck has been in business for about three months.
“Food trucks like this go over well with people because of the service, I think,” he said. “One of my favorite parts about doing this is meeting the people and talking to them.”
Levi has a Facebook page for the truck on which he not only posts specials for the day but pays close attention to what the customers are saying.
“It’s a good way to see what people are enjoying, what they want more of,” he said. “I had a woman post that she thought we were gone forever because we were away at a festival, and she was upset she couldn’t get falafel. Well, I let her know that we were back, and the next day the falafel was the featured special, just for her.”
