New Food Truck La Sonrìsa Makes its Way Jersey City

By Jon Whiten | JerseyCityIndependent

The latest food truck to try its hand at the Downtown Jersey City scene is La Sonrìsa, an outfit whose chef Ariel Rodriguez began selling food at the Hester Street Fair in NYC and has now expanded with a truck that began serving empanadas, rice bowls, sliders and coffee near Harborside this week.

The truck, which New York magazine’s Grub Street recommends, is currently offering a few special “grand opening” deals: free cafe con leche in the mornings (until Wednesday) and a free empanada with any $5 purchase through February 4. (You can see the coupon, as well as a menu on La Sonrìsa’s Facebook page).

The truck’s website says it is open Monday through Friday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This week it’s been parked on Hudson Street between Christopher Columbus and 2nd, but you can follow the Twitter feed for exact locations.
